Christian’s Three Peaks Challenge · 20 May 2018

We support the thousands of patients and families at Sheffield Children’s, from across the UK and beyond, by funding the life-changing and the joy-sparking. We make clinical care kinder, and bad days brighter. We bring play, laughter and comfort to places where they’re needed the most.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This summer, Christian (and his dad, Richard) will attempt the National Three Peaks Challenge over three days. The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales.

The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft).

Christian is raising money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital, who have quite literally saved his life on more than one occasion!

Christian was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at the age of 2 years and 9 months. He had just under 3 years of chemotherapy, over a thousand doses of oral, intravenous and intrathecal drugs. His treatment was cut short after chicken pox left him in an induced coma in Intensive care.

But anyone who knows Christian will tell you he’s a fighter! Now aged 9, he’s taken it all in his stride and has never looked back.

Doing this challenge is all Christian’s idea, after he climbed Scafell Pike with his dad earlier this year. He’s looking forward to climbing Ben Nevis most of all!

Jenson and I will be joining them for part of each of the mountains and we’re hoping to complete Scafell Pike, in itself quite an achievement for a 5 year old!
