We support men with their mental health to reduce male suicide in Scotland

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So today (January the 1st 2022) brings the start of my one year no beer challenge and 53 munros to be done over the year.

Anyone who knows me knows I love a good party, and a good swally at the weekend! Safe to say this is going to be a tough one for me, but one that I hope can help others.

The past couple of years have seen me, and many of my friends lose someone special through mental health.

Fueled by alcohol the burden perhaps just became too heavy, and certainly helped fuel the depression that ultimately won the battle. This is why I decided the no beer challenge was the right one to help raise that essential awareness, and hopefully, the funds raised will help the charity reach some others who need that critical help.

The munro (Scottish mountain over 3000ft) part is to show people that even when it seems like you can't win, if you focus, and push through, you will achieve your goal. Regardless of how bad the storm is in your mind, one small step at a time, one day at a time, or one hill at a time.. You will make it.

I am looking forward to keeping you posted on the benefits of how this challenge affects me, my health, my family and also my mental state.

During the year I will also be doing some additional fundraising, charity night, social media chats and per groups with the charity, that I will post up here for you to enjoy.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Conquer your mind, and your body will follow 💪

We use digital technology that men can use to enable them to self-manage and engage with their own mental health. We call it 'Prevention Through Self-Management' because waiting until a man reaches crisis before he gets help is like throwing a lifebuoy ring into the water when already drowning.
