In memory of Wing Commander A.R. Hindley O.B.E., A.F.C., R.A.F.

Please donate to the Bomber Command Memorial Fund  in memory of my father who touched so many people's lives both in the UK and India.

Dad talked very little about his experiences in Bomber Command - I believe he lost many friends and found the memories painful. One story he did tell me, as he was nearly always in pain and eventually told me why.  He had crash landed his badly damaged Lancaster after a raid over Europe - first he had his crew bail out over the UK. & then proceeded to attempt a landing. Unfortunately the aircraft broke up on landing and he suffered serious injuries. I believe it was after recovering from this that he went on to test flying for which we was awared his AFC.
