Hello and welcome to Iron Gurkha,

Who are we?

Our names are Kit Kyte, Tom Rose and Wes hughes and we are all Captains in the 2nd battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles in the British Army.

 

What are we trying to do?

 

We have just returned from operations in Afghanistan and have now been posted to Brunei where we will be doing our bit to make sure the British army maintains its Jungle Warfare capability whilst also providing security to the Sultan of Brunei and a detterence to his enemies. 

 

Due to the our location in Brunei we came to the decision that we would like to test ourselves in newer and more painful ways and so we thought what better than to enter the Ironman Malaysia.  It is known as one of the hottest on the circuit and for those who don't already know it will consist of a 2.4 mile swim in the sea followed by 112 mile bike followed by 26.2 mile (marathon) run.

Who is it for?

We soon decided that apart from getting ourselves really fit it is also an ideal opportunity to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charities; Help For Heroes, and The Gurkha Welfare Trust.  We have two pages, one for each charity and if possible we would always encourage equal sponsorship as we are trying to raise equal amounts.
