I am taking part in this race to raise people's awareness of mental health. According to statistics, one person in four will experience some kind of mental health problem in any given year in the UK:

These problems can be just as real and devastating as the physical ones. My daughter Artemis, fell victim to them when she was 17. We watched her turn very quickly from a happy, sociable and sports-loving teenager into someone completely unable to cope with life's little problems, finally taking her own life 2 years ago almost to the day of the race.

More research is needed to help understand the causes and treat the symptoms of mental illness. And more support is needed for the people suffering from these problems and their families.

Mind are doing an excellent job providing this much needed support and raising awareness of mental health problems in the UK and I believe your money will make a difference. This is why I will be running the race to raise money for them, and I am encouraging you to dig deep and donate now.
