Story
Thank you so much for visiting my page!
I've been lucky enough to be selected for Raleigh International's ICS (International Citizen Service) volunteer programme! This means I'll be travelling to the Makwanpur region of Nepal at the end of April. Here, I'll be living in a rural community for 10 to 12 weeks while working on a project to help villagers develop a sustainable means of living.
The ICS works with communities that have requested their help, and it aims to inspire young people to become active citizens who are dedicated to long term community development.
While on this programme I'll be taking part in one of two projects - either a WASH (Water, Sanitation and Health) programme, or a Livelihoods project, which supports local people in business development.
The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £800 for Raleigh International and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS and ensuring they can to continue sending volunteers to make a lasting difference in developing communities.
So, I've challenged myself to run a total of 300km before the 2nd April 2018 - my fundraising deadline. You can keep track of my progress here: https://300kmchallenge.wordpress.com/
I will also be walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks three-legged in March, and I will be holding various stalls selling cakes and books to fundraise.
Any contribution that you can give will make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries.
You can also donate via text. Just text my code CIAR54, and the amount (e.g. £5), to 70070.
Thank you in advance for your support!
