We empower survivors to rebuild lives and rebuild hope

Story

Thank you to all who are able to join Chicago GEN on 5/5 for a race to create 300 personal grooming kits for survivors and their children staying at CAWC's Greenhouse Shelter.  The shelter has 42 beds, is open 24-hours a day, and housed over 300 survivors last year.

If you are not able to join, please consider making a cash donation or signing up for the monthly donor giving program https://www.cawc.org/donate-monthly/

A $50 donation to CAWC will pay for a child recovering from domestic violence to stay at Greenhouse Shelter for a night.

A $75 donation covers a week's worth of counseling for a child who has witnessed or experienced domestic violence, ensuring they have the support they need to rebuild their confidence and grow up happily.

Connections for Abused Women and their Children (CAWC) is committed to ending domestic violence. Since establishing Chicago's first 24-hour domestic violence hotline in 1977 and opening Chicago's first shelter for survivors in 1979, CAWC has used a self-help, empowerment approach to provide a shelter for adults and children, counseling, advocacy, and a 24-hour hotline for people affected by domestic violence. They work for social change through education, service collaboration, and institutional advocacy.

About the charity
