Story

partypoker LIVE, in conjunction with leading singer, songwriter Liam Payne, is on a mission to support children and families undergoing pioneering cancer treatment, including Proton Beam Therapy.

"When I heard about the amazing work that UCLH were doing, it was just something I had to get involved in" Liam Payne

UCLH is constructing a state-of-the-art Proton Beam Therapy centre. We are delighted to be able to support young cancer patients and their families during their time of need through improved support.

The treatment is a different type of radiotherapy, using high energy beams of protons, rather than X-rays, to deliver radiotherapy to affected tumours. This means it can be provided with outstanding precision, in increased dosage and without damaging normal healthy tissue. It’s especially effective for children’s cancer, where normal tissue close to the tumour is still in the growth phase.

We are raising funds to provide state of the art facilities to make the experience, from the moment patients and families come through the door to when they go home as bearable as possible.

On Friday, 25 January 2019 we are hosting a Charity Poker Event in London to raise funds. For more information email UCLH.enquiry.charity@nhs.net
