Douglas Macmillan Hospice - Potters 'Arf Event · 10 June 2012 ·

Douglas Macmillan Hospice (Dougie Mac) is the only hospice in Staffordshire supporting Children, Young Adults & Adults. Care is given to patients who are living with a life-limiting illness at our two sites and in the community. We also provide support for patients families and their carers.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday 10 June I will be running in the ‘Potters Arf’ marathon in support of the Douglas Macmillan Hospice based in Stoke-on-Trent.

In October 2011 my godmother and a close family friend ‘Pat’died of cancer after a brave 5 year battle.  Throughout her illness she showed dignity and determination to enjoy life and whatever time she had left.  Pat got on with it and was an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

I have always been aware of the hospice and the wonderful work carried out by everyone who works there, however whilst visiting Pat this enabled me to witness first hand the specialist care provided and how valuable this care and support is to the patients and their families.  And so…...... 6 months ago I became a regular volunteer within their community lodges.

I appreciate that there are many charities out there some of which my be personal to you for other reasons however if you go ahead and sponsor me I thank you in advance for your support.  Alternatively if you have a spare couple of hours on the day a few words of inspiration would be much appreciated - I recall the recent words of my mum ‘please don’t do it again Clair I saw the state of you last time’.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my just giving page and I hope to see you on the day.
