Story

BLOOD CANCER UK FUND RAISER IN MEMORY OF NEIL DALBY.

During October Claire Dalby is fundraising for Blood Cancer UK. by walking 186 miles in memory of her son Neil.
Many of you will remember Neil Dalby, the little boy from Thirsk, and his courageous battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
Neil was diagnosed when he was 3 years old but, after continuous treatment including a Bone Marrow Transplant, he sadly died aged 9 on 23rd October 2000 in the Children's Cancer Unit at St James Hospital in Leeds.
Treatment these days has improved survival rates tremendously but, unfortunately, 20 years later children are still dying from this and other blood related illnesses.
Claire's aim is to walk a minimum of 6 miles every day throughout October - that's 1 mile a day for every year of Neil's treatment.

Thank you so much for your kind support.
Claire 😊

P. S. - I've been asked if I will be out walking everyday regardless of the weather - the answer is a great big YES!!!!!!  Neil, and every other child being treated for Blood Cancer, did not have the opportunity to say "Not today thank you!"

... Thank you so, so much for all your support so far. I've been overwhelmed by your generous donations; kind words and lots of offers to walk with me. Please, keep the donations coming, let's see how far we can take this... Thank you ❤️
