Story
So here is a bit of background about me, I am a settled happily married woman and been with my husband for 14 years. We have two beautiful children (aged 2 and 5) and my day job is an Accountant....pretty normal average person hey..well think again!!
Since having children I have found a new lease of life, I have lost over 4 stone and I am fitter than ever. I have always been a bit of an adrenaline junkie and loved activities such as theme parks, riding fast sports bikes and skydiving to name a few. But now I have fitness I have stepped it up a gear and last month I climbed Ben Nevis throughout the night for charity, BUT this was far too enjoyable and although very challenging I was pretty confident I could do it and I got an amazing time.
So, I thought I want a REAL challenge, I want something that scares me, I want something I could fail at, I want to have to work hard...and I mean really hard to get up to scratch and succeed. I say I am fitter than ever but that is my standards, I am nowhere near boxing fit standard. But I have decided to do an Ultra White Collar Boxing event for Cancer Research. I have never done boxing, never been in a fight, I am not an aggressive person so for me this is the ultimate challenge. I have butterflies just typing this out and thinking about the next 8 weeks ahead of me.
It involves 8 weeks intense training by professional boxing coaches then a fight at the end of it at a big Black Tie event in front of 500+ people...so no pressure!!! AAAAARRRRGGHHHHHHH. My event is being held on Sunday 28th September 2014 at the Holiday Inn hotel in Stevenage.
So this is all in aid of Cancer Research, I have been lucky enough that Cancer has always been held at arms length until the past couple of years then BOOM! Family members, work colleagues, friends have all been effected by cancer. It affects 1 in 3 people, I am married with two children, so stastically one of us WILL get cancer....what more motivation do I need to raise money for this charity and help find a CURE for this god-damn evil disease.
Please please sponsor me if you can, no matter how little, even just to help justify me potentially getting a black eye, broken nose or KO'd.
Tickets are also available for the event if you want to come watch and support.
