Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Between Feb 2020 and through into 2022 I am aiming to complete at least 10 challenges to raise money to support the Ipswich hospital stoma care nurses who helped me so much.
In February 2012 after years of being unwell and becoming very sick I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. By the time I was diagnosed my colitis was so severe that the only treatment was surgery to remove my colon. This literally saved my life.
As a family we knew very little about colitis and almost nothing about living with a stoma.. we had no idea what was happening. In stepped the Stoma care nurses at the hospital. These ladies literally picked us up, talked to us, listened to us and taught us how to move forward. They helped with everything from how to change a bag, to giving me a radar key, to support garments and checking on my mental well being to ensure that I and my family were able to adapt to this. And they are still here. I need them less now, but it’s good to know they will always be only a phone call away.
8 years later I live my life to the full. I run, weight train, swim, go on holiday, do a job, go out, have adventures with my family...I lead a normal life. So this is my way of saying thank you!
