Swanley 10K · 10 January 2010

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

I DID IT!!!  I'm pleased to report that I completed the 10k run at Ashford on Sunday 7th  Feb in 51 minutes!!!  Thank you for all your donations and support.

The run has been postponed due to the weather conditions, but don't worry I'll be doing another 10k in a couple of weeks (on Sunday 7 Feb) so please keep donating!!

As many of you know on 1 April 2009 (honestly not an April Fool joke!) I fractured my pelvis in a road accident, which has prevented me from running.  Not quite in keeping with my doctors advice (he didn't say not to run, but suggested against it.....) I decided that to encourage me back into action I'd do a run and, to ensure that I actually do turn up, I agreed to do it for charity.  So on Sunday 10 January 2010 I'll be attempting to complete the 10k at Swanley......in my planning I hadn't considered how close that is to the Christmas and New Year eating and drinking madness.....

I'm going to run in aid of The Stroke Association the charity my firm, Jones Day, has decided to support this year.  The Stroke Association works to combate strokes in people of all ages by raising awareness of strokes, it also funds research into the prevention, treatment and methods of rehabilitation of strokes and provides crucial assistance to stroke patients and their families.

To ensure that the pain I will suffer (possibly in the snow!) is worth it I would be really grateful if you could sponsor me!!  I know its January and there is a credit crunch, but anything you can give no matter how small would really be appreciated.  I already have committed sponsors of £365 so please help me reach the target of £500.

Many many thanks in advance for your generosity.

Claire
