Choosing a charity to run for this year was an easy one as there's a story which really struck a chord with me this year.... I've been inspired by 19 year old Laura Nuttall and have followed her story through her mum's honest and brave twitter account @shitscaredmum 

Laura, from Lancashire who achieved straight As in her A levels last summer, was just weeks into an international relations degree at King's College University in London in October when she began to experience occasional headaches and nausea.

She put her symptoms down to 'fresher's flu', but a routine eye test led to her being diagnosed with glioblastoma – the most aggressive brain cancer in adults.

Her mother Nicola is doing whatever she can to help Laura achieve her 'bucket list' which I challenge anyone to come up with a better one... it really made me smile... from HGV driving, panning for gold,  crossing the equator, visiting the baked bean factory... the list goes on and just shows what a thirst for life she has! 

But what scares me about Laura's story is that Brain Tumours kill more children and young adults in the UK than any other type of cancer yet so little is spent on research into this disease compared with many other cancers.

So that's why I'm running for The Brain Tumour Charity and for Laura! (who is also a keen runner and no doubt would ace the GNR!)  

Any spare pennies & pounds will make a BIG difference
