Story

Ok so after a roller coaster of emotions and it now sinking in after just over 24hrs.... I have a story to tell.

On the 2nd October not only was it my birthday, a very good friend of mine at work received news she had been successful in securing a place for the 2018 London marathon after be encouraged by me to apply (plus one other who also got in) After waiting 3 days I received my commiseration email.

Together we decided that as it was on my bucket list to run it before I was 40, I sat down and applied for various charity places... one of which was with her local hospice who were giving the most outstanding Care to her father, at an extremely Difficult time in his life. We sat down and wrote my application explaining who we were and why we wanted to do this incredible journey together whilst raising money for Weston hospice care. I submitted the application and waited.

After hearing yesterday, after a long battle my friends father passed away at the hospice on Monday with his family by his side I received a phone call.

On what was an already emotional day and feeling useless I answered thinking she needed to talk.... however I was wrong... it was the hospice calling to talk to me. After explaining what had happened the voice at the other end of the phone was silent.... after expressing her condolences she proceeded to say......

“I am hoping that on this extremely sad day I can bring you and your friend a little ray of sunshine, after reading your application we have decided to offer you one of our gold bond places in the 2018 London marathon, as we feel it would be amazing for you to complete this journey together”.

😱 so now the journey begins.... I will be setting up a donation page, and will be doing bake sales between now and the deadline for minimum donation (date TBC) it’s going to be emotional and tough but I will now be there to support her and complete my goal.

Anyone who fancies helping me train would be welcome (bike riding support welcome)......donations welcome

Here we go....... we’re on our way to London xxx

RIP Bryan Emery always in their hearts ❤️
