After several difficult months our beloved "Mammy" passed away on the 8th June 2017 at the age of 82 at St Margaret of Scotland Hospice, Glasgow. Mum was surrounded by her family in the most wonderful, caring, compassionate environment we could ever have hoped for. It was enormously comforting for us to see our Mum being cared for in her final days on this earth with compassion, dignity and respect. All the staff at SMH not only cared for Mum, but for each and every one of her family, most especially over her final 48 hours and thereafter, where no request was too much. The doctors, nurses, auxiliaries, administrative, catering staff and beyond cared for Mum and us as if we were their own.
St Margaret of Scotland Hospice is Scotland’s oldest and largest Hospice providing 30 beds for care of older adults with special medical, nursing and palliative needs. Their ethos of compassion is evident in everything we have experienced as a family and we couldn't have asked for more as a family or for Mum.
There are not enough ways to say thank you to SMH for the wonderful care Mum and all of us received there, which was a great comfort at such a difficult time. So we are fundraising for the work they do in order that they can continue to support and care for other older adults and their families in the very darkest and difficult days of death, in the loving, dignified and compassionate way that they have done for our Mum and for us.
Thanks for supporting this wonderful charity.
