Spinal Injuries Association - Grade - One - A - Thon · 27 February 2011 ·

Every 2 hours, someone in the UK sustains a spinal cord injury. Their world – and that of their family – is turned upside-down. SIA aim to reach everyone affected by spinal cord injury, to connect them to all the help and support they need to life a fulfilled life.

Story

Sponsor me to learn the trumpet in just 8 weeks!

On 3 January I had a lesson on the trumpet. On 27 Feb I will take my Grade 1 exam. In spite of an inspiring lesson by Paul Garner my efforts so far sound more like a rather sad cow than anything else, but hopefully things will improve soon.

What's it all about? Along with around 130 others I am taking part in the Grade-one-a-thon. We have all agreed to try to learn a musical instrument we've never played before. Everyone has had just one lesson on their instrument. We all take our Grade 1 exam 8 weeks later. On the same day we will form an 'orchestra' and give a concert in Cambridge Guildhall - an event which promises to sound truly horrendous!

But its all in a very good cause. All money raised will go to the Spinal Injuries Association, the leading national charity for those with spinal injuries. This is a wonderful organisation helping those with spinal injuries and their families to cope with the dramatic life changes that such injuries bring about.

Please support them and sponsor me - I need all the encouragement you can provide!
