Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 9th of April 2017 I am going to run the Brighton Marathon 10k to support Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice and in memory of my friends beautiful little girl Amber.

Almost 4 years ago Chestnut Tree House provided fantastic care for Amber, the daughter of my friends Stephen and Louise Rooke.

Amber was just one years old when she was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer. Amber was so brave and had to endure many treatments in hospital, she lost all of her eyesight and was left fighting for her life.  In June 2013 after a year long hard battle and at just two years old Amber sadly passed away. I can not even begin to imagine the pain that Steve and Louise went through and still do go through everyday, it is heartbreaking.

Chestnut Tree House is the children's hospice for East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire and cares for children and young people with life-shortening conditions, both at the hospice and in families' own homes.  It also provides support for the whole family.

It costs around £3 million each year to provide the care services for Chestnut Tree House, but less than 8% comes from central government funding. For the rest they rely on the generosity of peoples donations.

£4.75 pays for one minute of all Chestnut Tree House care services.

£35 will enable a child to experience a magical hour in the multi-sensory room with a specially trained member of staff.

£40 will cover the costs of a session with our Bereavement Counsellor.

£157 allows a member of our Community Care Support Team to Care for a life-limited child in the child's home.

£230 gives a child the chance to visit Chestnut Tree House for the day and enjoy a range of activities.

£6,850 covers one day of all care services provided by Chestnut Tree House.

Your contribution would help keep their amazing service going and support other families.
