On the 9th May 2021 I will be taking part in my first competitive 10K at Run Aintree.

Anyone who knows me will know what a magical place Aintree is for me - i have so many amazing memories from here and ive seriously missed getting my “Aintree Fix” during the past year in lockdown!! So i cannot think of a better fitting venue to make my competitive running debut especially with such a strong connection to my chosen charity.

Suicide is a heartbreaking issue & many of these who have sadly taken their lives have been riders, grooms & jockeys and the Aintree Chairman Rose Paterson. It’s so important that we remove the stigma surrounding mental health & make it easier for those feeling vulnerable to be able to reach out.

I myself have visited some incrdibly dark places in the past few years and i know how important it is to have someone check in on you. If my efforts can help prevent just one person taking their own life then that in itself is a huge step in the right direction.

Rose Paterson took her own life in June 2020. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was also Chairman of Aintree Racecourse. Despite her achievements, she was struggling to cope and needed help.

Every four minutes someone in the UK tries to take their own life; every 90 minutes someone succeeds. However, no suicide is inevitable if individuals in crisis can access the right support. Our mission is to support the organisations and individuals combatting the suicide epidemic through fundraising and policy change.

The Racing Community & Equestrians Worldwide are renown for coming together so I hope you will all get behind me & help to raise as much money for this incredible Charity as possible.
