Story
As i am sure you have all been avidly watching the BBC Return to Kilimanjaro red nose day team currently climbing Kilimanjaro. Well in 14 days time i set off on my very own expedition to summit the World’s Tallest Freestanding Mountain.
Over 7 days we climb the Lemosho route up to Uhuru peak at 5895m (19,341ft). Facing altitude sickness, extreme temperatures and a range of environments from rain forest to glacier along the way.
After many months of training and preparation i can not wait to get started and am counting down the days. While trying to figure out how to fit 7 days of Mountain kit into my suitcase!
Later in the year i will also be taking part in the 106km Isle of Wight Ultra which goes the whole way around the island. And the Tough new Peak District 100km Ultra with the aim to complete both in under 24hours.
Please dig deep and donate generously to this very worthy cause set up by an inspirational young lady. When the going gets tough on the Mountain, knowing that you have all donated generously will help me to reach the summit!
Hannah Francis founded the charity to fund research in bone cancer particularly Osteosarcoma and introduced ‘Willberry’s Wishes’ enabling seriously ill people to have an equine related wish to make them feel ‘normal’ even if it was just for a short time. Han was just 18yrs old when she tragically passed away from this horrific painful disease.
