Story

On the 14th January 2019 my family’s life changed forever. We were told that my dad had cancer, of course this was a huge shock but then again we thought it’s cancer dad can beat it. However the day after (15.01.19) we were then told the devastating news that it was stage 4 lung cancer and incurable. Dad stayed positive and agreed to any treatment to help him. We were told that if he had chemo he would have 12-18 months to live, unfortunately this was not true. The chemo really affected dad in a negative way and he had to undergo blood transfusions and stay in hospital for periods of time. In the end the cancer just became to strong and made him in so much pain that a room came up for dad at St Peter’s Hospice. Dad was only in there for a week before he passed away on 24th April 2019. The Staff were absolutely incredible, they did everything in their power to make sure dad and us as a family were at ease. I will never forget the night dad died and this one nurse just sat and hugged me until the rest of my family turned up to be with me. I feel like I owe them so much more than raising money but I guess this is a start.

For those of you who know me well you will know that exercise is not my thing! But when my dad was dying he made a joke saying this would be the thing to keep me fit and healthy, - running in his memory. So that’s what I shall do!

Any donation no matter how big or small will be greatly appreciated and will go to such an amazing cause.

Thanks for taking your time to read this, now to start training for the big day! (Wish me luck!)
