Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I decided earlier this year to run the Kibworth Half Marathon and raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association because my uncle suffers from this terrible disease so it is a cause close to my heart.
MND is a fatal disease that can affect any adult at any age. It's a rapidly progressive neurological condition and around half of those diagnosed with MND die within fourteen months. Currently there is no effective treatment or cure.
My Uncle was just 59 when he was diagnosed and the disease initially progressed very quickly leaving him unable to speak and struggling to walk. He is now approaching his sixth year since diagnosis which is quite unusual for a MND sufferer. He is now unable to speak, move (with the exception of a small range of movement in his arms) and latterly he is struggling to swallow - making eating impossible.
The MND Association is the only charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland funding and promoting research into the disease to work towards their vision of a world free of MND, while helping people with MND secure the care and support they desperately need.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you so much for visiting my page, your sponsorship is much appreciated.
