Gower Ultra 50 for City Hospice

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Some of you might be aware that on 3rd July 2017 my father had a seizure at home and was rushed to hospital. After numerous scans it was discovered that he had terminal cancer and was given a timescale of weeks to months. It was my fathers wish to remain home for as long as possible and this meant throughout his illness my mum would be his sole carer.
As the illness progressed the three of us (Rob and Mike and myself) would take it in turns staying at my parents helping mum when needed. However, there was only so much we could do as a family and extra support was needed.
This is where City Hospice (formally called George Thomas) came in. They are a charity that provide palliative care services in homes allowing individuals to maintain their independence for as long as possible. The doctors and nurses were a great support to us as a family allowing our dad to remain comfortable. Their service is free of charge and they don't turn patients away but they do have to raise £1million every year to ensure this.
My dad passed away on 27th December 2017 at home, where he wanted to be. Thanks to the generosity of his friends that attended the funeral £488 has already been raised.
I have decided to give myself a challenge this year and thought it was a good opportunity to raise some awareness and money of course! The furthest I have ever run in one go is just over 13 miles in Cardiff half marathon. It is of course a sensible and logical step to progress to an ultra marathon. The Gower ultra is a 50 mile (run, walk, crawl) event around the Gower peninsula. The majority of the route follows the coastal path and is definitely not flat...

A few of my mates have decided to join me. As training starts expect this list to be amended as some of them couldn't run a bath.
