Story

On Friday 15th October 2021 Michelle, Paul B, Debbie, Lynn, Steve, Stuart, Kate, Paul W and Greg will be putting on their walking boots, layering up and taking on the challenge to climb Mount Snowdon in memory of Chris Wiles.

Chris enjoyed any physical challenge, that was his way. Choosing to climb Mount Snowdon in his memory will spur us all on to reach the summit!

In April 2019 Chris suffered a mental health crisis. Chris had reached out for help. However, his mental state deteriorated dramatically and within three months the anxiety and depression got hold of him with an even tighter grip and despite the help he received he became consumed. On the 24th April 2019 Chris tragically took his own life.

During the months after Chris passed away, his family found a charity to help share his story. The Wiles family, in partnership with Mates in Mind, are aiming to shed light on the importance of mental health awareness and training within any organisation and help to break the silence and stigma surrounding mental ill-health in the workplace.

Mental health training is paramount in any organisation. Nothing will bring Chris back. If it can happen to Chris it can happen to anyone. Paying attention to your mental health in the workplace has never been more important.

Be a mate. Be the change.
