Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis is a charity dedicated to supporting people with pulmonary fibrosis including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
IPF is a progressive, scarring lung disease which there is currently no known cure. It has a life expectancy post diagnosis of just 3 precious years. In the UK there are approximately 5000 new cases of IPF each year. Gradually, over time symptoms get more aggressive and there is an irreversible decline in lung function leading to the requirement of supportive oxygen therapy. Medical science is yet to understand why this happens. There needs to be more money put into research to find the causes and cures.
In 2014, Clive's/Dad's health began to deteriorate and in October 2016 was diagnosed with IPF. This changed his life. But in October 2018 he was offered a lung transplant after being on the waiting list just four days. He was so unbelievably brave, had the most positive outlook throughout, and never gave up fighting hard to get through all of the complications he suffered. After eleven weeks in Papworth hospital he lost the fight.
Such a big character, the World will be a much quieter place without him.
Every donation counts. It's time to find a cure for IPF.
