Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be participating in this year’s London Prudential Ride on 10th July, to support The Samson Centre in Guildford Surrey.
The Samson Centre was set up in 2005 and is the home of the MS Therapy Group (Guildford), a centre in West Surrey which improves the quality of life for people with MS. It provides physiotherapy and other therapies, information & support to those with MS, and invaluable practical help to carers and families.
The Samson Centre was set up by my good friend, John Hambly, who I have known for some 14 years. John has done a truly remarkable job in ensuring the centre continues to function effectively, providing support for the local catchment (and beyond) of patients with the debilitating symptoms of MS.
The continued running of the Samson Centre, is not however without its difficulties, facing constant challenge. John has determinedly continued to run the Samson Centre, despite suffering the daily debilitating effects of his own battle with MS.In addition, the Samson Centre receives no public funding, and fundraising is a constant necessity, if only to meet the day-to-day costs of running the centre. This lack of public funding is somewhat surprising, given the referrals from both Primary and Secondary NHS care.
There is no doubt that the Samson Centre represents a huge achievement by both John and a small group of determined people, and stands as a fantastic testament to all involved in both the original vision and its realisation. It is for these reasons that I will be riding in this year’s London Prudential ride, to give some much needed support to the Samson Centre in Guildford.
So, please dig deep and do what you can, to help me, help them. As always any amount you are able to sponsor, however small, is very much appreciated.
