Story
It all started with such optimism, we met friends Ian and Trish at the church with our tandem, signed in and by the time we reached the hill out of Goadby Marwood our front tyre was almost flat. Rather than hold everything up by trying to mend the puncture we bailed out and decided to use our normal bikes instead. As Nigel got off the bike it keeled over and me with it and I hit the tarmac on my left side! This means that when the puncture is fixed we will do the route again on the tandem this time. Some time in October. Nigel wonders if I'm going to use the phrase "false pretences".
After this inauspicious start we had a fabulous day, perfect weather and the churches looking so beautiful. We visited all 7 churches in the benefice (20 miles). Deep gratitude to Chadwell and Scalford churches who left flowers, cartons of juice and snacks so that we didn't have to carry our own. Photos of these in the gallery. What a difference this made on arrival at a church, thoughtful and much appreciated. It was lovely to see on the registers that Sandra and Bob, Kathryn, Andrew, Shona and Nigel (Allen) were also doing the rounds.
Thank you to all who donated, most are anonymous so I can't thank you personally but with Justgiving and cash donations we raised over £385.
