Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

My name is Colin Jones i have been a builder in Tiverton for around 36 years now and i INTEND to be for a few more years yet.

I have always loved what i do it has been my life and my love. So then one day i find that i can't move my fingers as much as the other hand and i actually thought it was quite funny and bit of a party piece. Then it got slowly worse ,so the other love in my life sent to the doctors and in turn he sent me to see a consultant, Even then never thought much about it. The consultant made walk up and down, write some words , do some silly stuff like touch my nose, ear etc. Then i sat and just said right out YOU HAVE PARKINSON'S.

That was eight years ago and he said you have probably had for more than ten years. I remember walking out thinking parkinson's that when you shake alot . My wife Kay and i spent many months thinking about how the life we were planning had just gone up in smoke, We talked ,we cried and then we even laughed about it, because if there is onething about parkinson's if you let it,it will rip you to piece's .

The one thing i have always tried to say to myself and other's it could be worse, and i have never ever said to myself why me ,the way i look at it is i am the one a 1,000 that has got it someone has to, and it's me just get on with it ,there is nothing i can do about it .

And now i come to why i am  doing this challenge, Because i want to have a bit of fun with my friends and family before this thing takes away from me the one thing that i love (apart from the wife) more that anything, my job but also to give that other person who loves his family/ job what ever, a chance that he/she can carry on without the thing in your head 24-7 telling you life is going be very different in time and perhaps bloody hard.

So if you have read my story please Donate . Colin.
