This is not a joke! Seriously....stop laughing! I still don't think Jen believes me!!! For a very long time I have always thought about running, but for whatever reason (probably my love of cake) it has just never happened, but now it must!   

Its been a life long dream of mine to run the New York Marathon, so it was recently when I turned 30 I made the decision that I was going to do it. Now I am not a fool, this isn't going to be some easy challenge, right now my fitness levels are on a par with John Goodman, so it doesn't take a genius to know that I will not be in any shape by November 2016 to complete this years event. So I have set myself a 2 year plan, with the aim of being ready for NYC in November 2017.

This is the first step, losing a sizeable chunk of weight (in the region of 60lb) and completing the Great North Run (a half marathon) later in 2016. This will also show me if I have a chance of completing the NYC event the following year.

Keep in mind, i have never ran. This isn't going to be easy.

Now the serious bit! When i was young, my mum was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and although she has been lucky compared to other sufferers, this past year all of our family have been woken up to the effects of this horrible disease. It has been so hard for all of us to see someone who has always been up and about now confined to a bed and potentially so for the rest of her life.

With that in mind, I have chosen to run as part of a team for the MS Society, a charity who continue to raise awareness and work towards pioneering treatment's that could one day help to cure this awful disease.

This is where you come in, I would really appreciate your support, however small (or big) The money I raise will continue the great work the charity are doing (plus you will be safe in the knowledge that the cake aisle is safe!!)

I have a long way to go on this journey and knowing that so many people are behind me will really push me on to achieve this first major goal.
