Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
The Logie Legacy is a twinning partnership between St Francis' Hospital Zambia and NHS Borders Scotland. It has supported projects in Maternity, Paediatrics, Physiotherapy, Sexual Health, Pharmacy, Public Health, Ophthalmology, Radiology and TB control.
St Francis' Hospital is partly funded by the Zambian government, but this funding always falls short of demands and the hospital team are very dependant on donor funding. The hospital serves an immediate population of 180,000 but is a referral centre for 1.5 million people in Eastern Province - an area the size of Scotland!
Our dear friend Chris Faldon, who works in Public Health at NHS Borders has been involved in The Logie Legacy for some years and is heading out to Zambia to visit the hospital again on 14th April, to encourage TB project workers and deliver training.
We wanted to help the hospital in a way that would be a challenge to us as a family and, as none of us are walkers, we chose to step out of our comfort zone and walk 62 miles in 5 days from Melrose to Holy Island, following the life journey of Saint Cuthbert in the 600s AD.
This hospital has an excellent reputation and brings healing and the message of hope found in Jesus Christ. Thank you for supporting us in our challenge and for your generosity to St Francis' Hospital.
