Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. However despite my fundraising, ‘my story’ is not about me, but my brave husband Alan (52), who was recently diagnosed with aggressive, advanced Prostate Cancer.

For those of you that don’t know much about Prostate Cancer, it is the most common form of Cancer for men in the UK, with over 40,000 people diagnosed every year. There is a high survival rate if identified in the early stages, but unfortunately for my Alan his diagnosis came too late. He is now among the minority of sufferers where it can’t be cured, but can be kept under control.

To show my support and help raise awareness for this terrible disease, I have done the unthinkable and signed up for the Great Birmingham Run (Half Marathon). My heels have been swapped for running shoes, my weekend lie-ins have been given up for morning gym sessions and my wardrobe now contains more Lycra than Mr. Motivator’s. It’s enough to make anyone break out in a cold sweat (in my case, literally), so please dig deep and help me raise money for this cause. Cancer may have started the fight, but I will help finish it, by crossing the finish line on Sunday the 19^th October 2014!
