We’re Mind, the mental health charity, working across England & Wales. We believe no one should face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you. Whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis. We’ll listen, give support & advice, & fight your corner. Thanks for fundraising for national Mind.

Story

On the 5th May 2019, a team of 15 from Connaught Football Club will be running the Southampton Half Marathon to raise money for the mental health charity MIND UK

Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK (over 16 million) will experience a mental health problem each year. Moreover, according to reports by National Union Students (NUS), 92% of students have experienced mental ill health while studying and 13% have had suicidal thoughts during this time. Suicide still accounts as the leading cause of death in young people aged 20-34 years with men being 3 times as likely to take their own life.

Many members within our football club have felt the often hidden, inner torment that mental health issues can cause through close friends and family or by having personally experienced it themselves. This is why we believe the fantastic work and support that MIND offer to be so crucial. They provide advice and support to empower those experiencing mental health problems while campaigning for the improvement of services and greater awareness/understanding. Their belief that "no one should have to face a mental health problem alone" encapsulates the supportive ethos we strive for in the club and why we believe this is such a phenomenal cause to fund-raise for.

Thank you for your support,

The Connaught FC Boys.
