Corey and alfie 2 day Devon coast to coast cycle for dementia · 5 April 2021

Founded in 2014, Dementia Support is a young, unique charity that provides complete dementia services in one community-based hub, known as Sage House. We provide support and information to anyone wanting to know more about how to live well with dementia, both pre and post diagnosis.

Story

We are cycling the Devon coast to coast in 2 days, camping over night at the midpoint. The coast to coast is about 100 miles meaning its 50 miles one day and 50 the next. On the first day we will travel from Ilfracmobe to Okehampton, then from Okehampton to Plymouth the next. We want to raise money as dementia is now the leading cause of death in the UK. It’s a devastating and complex condition. Every 3 minutes somebody will develop dementia. There is no cure. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, including my (Alfie) 93 year old Great-Grandmother suffers from Dementia, and I wanted to do something for her. The people at Dementia Support are there for all those who need our help. They reduce loneliness, give the best quality care and provide hope, supporting the whole family. Through the Coronavirus pandemic they have continued to offer much-needed support to people living with dementia and their family, friends and carers, and we want to support that.
