Story
This is all about Parkinson’s disease and why it is important for me to fight it by keeping my daily life much the same as it was prior to being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in January 2012.
As I have always been an active man enjoying long distance running, squash, football, walking and in more recent years saxophone and art (and cycling – read on) my days have always been busy.
This life style is now challenged with the onset of Parkinson’s disease. I am determined to meet that challenge head-on and fight this disease to the best of my ability. Exercise has been proven to help reduce the medication taken which is especially relevant as the medication often causes unwanted side effects that are as difficult as the disease itself.
So this is where Just Giving and this Event come into my life. My wife Corinne and I have decided to Cycle from London to Paris on September 3 in order to raise money for research into Parkinson’s disease and raise awareness to the disease generally.
The event is a distance of 471 kilometres (290 miles) over four days and finishes at the Eiffel Tower on Saturday 7 September.
Please sponsor us by following the instructions on the JustGiving website. All the money we are raising will go directly to Parkinson’s UK as we are funding the cost of the trip ourselves.
One person every hour is diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease – makes you think doesn’t it?
We both thank you for your support and sponsorship and look forward to giving you a report of our journey from London the Paris !!
