Corinne's The Engine Run 10k for children and young people in Tottenham

The Engine Run · 22 June 2019
Although there has been a lot of investment in Tottenham in recent years, there remains a high level of deprivation, with the politics of austerity hitting many families hard. The Engine Room has set a challenge to raise £25K for their Tottenham Kids program, which this 10K Engine Run is helping towards. Their children's program runs a range of activities from very small children up to young people and adolescents, including their COMPACT programme, helping young people think about their futures and keeping them away from crime and gang life. Having run a junior youth project myself in the past, I am all for proactive support for young people through out-of-school activities to help them keep safe and make the most of their talents. The Engine Room itself was built to embrace the diversity in our community and has an inclusive ethos - the space links to a church, but also houses a madrassah a number of times a week, meditation sessions, and generally welcomes people (like myself) who do not subscribe to a nominated faith at all. So I am happy to support this open minded, non-judgemental space which aims to give a positive contribution to our fantastic community.
