We fund medical research to find a cure for the rare disease A-T

Story

As many of you may know, Paul, Sam, Joe and Jess (Team Cornell) have spent the last 5 years taking on challenges in aid of Action for A-T; this charity is very close to our hearts since it was established by Sam's brother Toby and his wife Emily when their daughter, our gorgeous niece Evie, was diagnosed with the devastating childhood neurodegenerative condition, Ataxia Telangiectasia (A-T).

Following Paul's running of the London Marathon in April - which he completed in a very respectable time despite running with a torn meniscus - it's now Sam's turn to take on a challenge and she's chosen a monstrous one!

On Saturday 1st July Sam (me) will be walking non-stop from Bath to Cheltenham over the Cotswold Way with a team of walkers, covering a distance of 100 kilometres (that's 62 miles in old money).  The team hopes to complete the walk in somewhere between 24-30 hours.  Non-stop means non-stop: that's 24+ hours with no sleep, just a few pit stops to refuel along the way.

Training for a 100k walk is not easy - I have struggled to take time away from everyday life to go for very long walks in the country and will have to rely on my determination (stubbornness) and devotion to the cause to get me through!  Having supported Toby and Emily through endurance walks before I'm well aware that this will be one of the hardest challenges I have ever done, but I'm determined to complete the walk in a respectable time and I'm trying not to think of how mangled my feet will be afterwards!

Every donation you make, however large or small, will be very gratefully received.  Action for A-T will use the money we raise to fund vital medical research to speed up the process of identifying a cure for A-T or treatments that may delay or prevent the effects of this devastating childhood condition.

Thank you - Paul, Sam, Joe, Jess.....and Evie x
