Once more I have agreed to undertake an absurd challenge for a sedentary man in his forties. The west to east crossing of the North York Moors in a single day! "Madness!" they cried! Forty or more miles of hills and moors, without the aid of a motorcar? What insanity is this?

'Tis the Lykewake Walk, I replied, and I will be undertaking it unsupported but with an elite band of similarly minded fools!
