WSP and Friends Cycle Challenge 2017 · 8 June 2017

The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that gives families with a seriously ill child in hospital a comfortable place to stay and a friendly ear to listen in one of our ten ‘Homes from Home’. By providing families with somewhere to stay near their child they have one less thing to worry about.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to read my fundraising page - if you're unfortunate enough to have been hassled last year for sponsorship as well, you'll remember that I, along with around 15 colleagues and friends hopped across to Northern Ireland to cycle almost 250 miles in 3 days for Cameroon Catalyst.

This year, we're off to Brittany to do fewer miles (although probably about the same, because we'll get lost), within a shorter time-frame, but for an equally deserving cause, which is close to the hearts of many of us due to the events that unfolded this time last year. During out second day of cycling, Dave Hill, a member of our team received word that he had become a grandfather. Whilst he was understandably overjoyed by the news, his elation was short lived as he discovered that his new granddaughter's (Emilia's) life was in serious jeopardy due to complications, causing her to spend several weeks fighting for he life in intensive care.

This is where the Sick Children's Trust came in, supporting her and her parents through the traumatic experience, such that as she approaches her first birthday, whist she still has some fighting to do, there is light at the end of the tunnel for her and her family.

Please consider donating to this worthwhile cause and supporting my team of cyclists as we gladly suffer through the miles, so that children like Emilia can be given the best possible chance at the start of their lives. Thank you!
