The National Autistic Society is here to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people. There is still so much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation and build a brighter future for autistic people. With your help, we can make it happen.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Craig and I were inspired by a close friend to join them on
the challenge to Trek Borneo and raise money for charity.

Our chosen charity is the National Autistic Society which is
very close to Craig’s heart as his grandson, Jack, suffers with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Autism is a spectrum condition affecting one in 100 people
and, according to estimates from the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network, one in 44 children have been identified with ASD.

Life can be very challenging for Autistic people as they have
difficulties with interpreting both verbal and non-verbal language like
gestures or tone of voice, they also struggle with social interaction.  Changes to routine can be very distressing and make them very anxious and the extreme anxiety can lead to meltdowns and
shutdowns.

Jack is doing well and growing up into fine young man.

Please dig deep and support this very worthwhile charity.
