Great River Race · 7 September 2013

Curable eye cancer kills 7,000 children each year and blinds many more. We bring life and sight saving opportunity worldwide by raising awareness to achieve early diagnosis, supporting sustainable specialist medical care, and providing support to reduce burdens and improve cure and quality of life.

Story

The Great River Race is a 21 mile rowing challenge along the Thames from London Docklands to Ham, Surrey which combines unique views of London and a fantastic atmosphere with endurance, aching arms and blisters that last for weeks (www.greatriverrace.co.uk).

For the last couple of years, the team, with their beautiful Bursledon Gig "Crazy Daisy," has taken part in this event purely for the pain and the glory (Yes, we are slightly crazy as the boat name would suggest).

This year we decided that we wanted our hard work to result in more than just a sense of personal achievement.  We therefore had a look at relevant charities and came across Daisy's Eye Cancer fund (spot the link?), a charity started locally, which helps raise awareness and fund research into the eye cancer Retinoblastoma.

Please help us raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause, and give us a reason to row hard and get lots and lots of blisters.
