As a comprehensive non-profit human service organization, SHIM is working with volunteers, donors, and partners to reduce the devastating effects of suburban poverty among the unemployed, families, single parents, senior citizens, women, and growing number of refugee families from around the world.

Story

SHIM's work centers on meeting basic needs, achieving self-sufficiency, and building community. Our Basic Needs programs provide food, clothing, utility relief, financial aid, case management, transportation assistance and referrals. SHIM offers employment support, job coaching, family support services and utilizes 15 Community Gardens to provide fresh produce to SHIM's three pantries. SHIM works intensively with individuals and families to help them identify their goals and overcome any obstacles to achieving them.
