Story
Having endured the pain of riding from London to Brighton 2 years ago, my stepdad Mark and I have been inspired by our neighbour's experience to take on the challenge once again, this time for a different charity. The charity we have chosen to support is Sarcoma UK.
In 2009 our neighbour, 15 year old Pippa Hatch, was diagnosed with a rare form of Sarcoma called Pediatric Wild-type GIST (Gastro Intestinal Stromal Tumor). Pippa is now 18 and despite undergoing major surgery involving the loss of two thirds of her stomach, chemotherapy treatment for a recurring tumour, followed by further surgery, she has raised money tirelessly herself on behalf of Sarcoma UK a charity that helped her and her family. As GIST is such a rare cancer, which doesn't respond to "traditional" forms of chemotherapy or radiotherapy, funds are always needed to help with vital research to help find a cure for this type of cancer, and to provide support and information for people like Pippa, and their families.
Mark and I are therefore trying to do our bit to increase awareness and contribute a little and have been in training for the ride which takes place in just under a week on the 16th September.
