Story

Henry Buckmaster 2nd June 1955 - 23rd August 2019

Henry loved the D'Oyly Tartes for its camaraderie and fun and took what he deemed to be a starring role as a legionary in their Camolodunum Production! (Time on stage c 10 minutes) He had in his time been a guardsman and he vocally lamented the inability of his fellow legionaries to be able to march properly and had to be prevented from hissing orders.  He had very good legs of which he was justly proud so he was particularly pleased to be able to show them off to advantage under a pair of natty white boxers. He would be both touched and embarrassed at their kindness in dedicating this fundraising to him.

“It was an honour to be treated and helped by St Elizabeth Hospice.”  Henry of course did not have the luxury of writing those words so I am writing them for him as I know it is what he would have wanted me to say.

I rang them on a Sunday morning having previously had no contact at all, they were with us within forty minutes. A plan was made and they then treated him with the utmost dignity and respect whilst also supporting us as a family. It is hard to say please give to an organisation that I hope you never need but please do so!
