Story

I am fundraising in support of The Running Charity.  An amazing small charity who's mission is to nurture young people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and help them reach their full potential.

More information on the services the charity provides and why I'm running for them can be round here - https://express.adobe.com/page/cgdcsoHSkH7Zk/

I have only 1 month to train for this event having suffered some long term health conditions over the past year, so this will be my biggest challenge yet.

I want to raise as much awareness as possible about the unique approach The Running Charity take to helping young people out of homelessness.  You can find out more about their work and the incredible achievements of the members they support here https://therunningcharity.org/, including Zamzam (an ex-Olympian who is now one of their charity ambassadors) https://youtu.be/QZqanTucF28

The Running Charity develop running and personal development programmes and create a supportive community that celebrate achievement of the members of they work with. This year a team of 20 young people who have been affected by homelessness and multiple or complex needs are running the London Marathon!

When homelessness happens to a young person, it can affect them for the rest of their life, and they are almost twice as likely to die as their non-homeless peers. At least 122,000 young people in the UK are homeless right now, and it’s a problem that goes hand-in-hand with many complex issues.

  • 122,000 - The approximate number of homeless young people in the UK today
  • For every £1 invested in our impact we return £9 to society (independent study)
  • £1.3B - London’s temporary housing costs in the past 7 years
  • £1.6B - The UK’s temporary housing costs 2021/22

Appreciate times are tight for everyone but even a few quid will go a long way to directly helping a group of young people The Running Charity works with rebuild their lives, starting with a tailored running programme to give them stability, focus and a shared goal. Please donate what you can and support young people across the country to get the access they need to health and mental wellbeing services, employment and housing services to help them reach their full potential.
