At Monoux College our mission is cultural and educational, concerned with providing not only academic pathways for young people in East London but also an environment that develops young people's sense of self, wellness and ambition for employment. The vast majority of our students have family backgrounds from developing countries and we support them to develop the confidence to live successfully in London.
Many of the Plan International UK goals, concerned with youth leadership, gender equality, entrepreneurship, health and education coincide with the goals of Monoux. As do our students' interest in global issues affecting children and girls because our students were born, lived or have family ties to the countries where those issues are prevalent. We also have a major project underway in 2017-18 to encourage young people to be more active and take part in sports. In May 2017 we set up the Green Park Athletic Club to encourage students from East London to be more active and spend more time in central London.
As for me, I'm Principal of Monoux College and, at the weekends, a runner. If I can stay injury-free, I hope to run the half marathon in under 2 hours. I ran the Winchester Half Marathon in 2:06 but that was incredibly hilly... I believe I can do this!
So, please consider giving some money towards my target.
