Africa - Two peaks challenge · 12 August 2014

VA has been helping veterans in crisis since 1932, regardless of age, ethnicity, faith, rank or length or service. Uniquely, it takes immediate action when homelessness, debt, addiction or social isolation threatens to destroy a life. Important to read: http://www.veterans-aid.net/support-us/

Story

Whilst Most men and women who leave the Armed Forces are capable, robust individuals who make a good transition to civilian life, inevitably there are some who get into difficulties – and a few who find themselves in real crisis.

For these men and women Veterans Aid is a lifeline; a hands-on, operational charity that offers immediate, practical help geared to individual needs.

Veterans Aid was established in 1932 in the aftermath of the Great War. The charity works quietly helping ex-servicemen and women in crisis, regardless of age or circumstance.

In 2013 it took 3,400 calls for help & provided 21,300 nights of accommodation. From basics like provision of food, new clothing and travel to life-changing investment in training it is a place of hope that transforms lives daily.

It’s an inspirational charity that puts all donations towards helping the most vulnerable veterans.

I will be climbing Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro (5,895 meters) and Mt Kenya (5,199 meters) over the summer as a personnel challenge; it is an entirely self-funded expedition:  100% of your donations will go straight to this great charity so please give generously.
