***UPDATE****

Due to the 30 degree weather on Sunday it was too hot for me to finish the full half marathon, but I did 10k of it! I have signed up for the same race on the 18th of September so will keep this donation page live :) Thank you everyone for your support so far, fingers crossed for some more running friendly temperatures!

I will be running my first ever half marathon in memory of my friend Fay. Although she would not condone any length of running, she loved animals so will be donating all contributions to my local shelter, Holbrook Animal Rescue.

They are a family-run charity based in Horsham, founded around 26 years ago, Holbrook Animal Rescue was set up to help abandoned dogs and cats. They take in many different types of animals from different backgrounds. Unlike many other rescues, their dogs aren't kept in kennels. They sleep in the house and are free to run and play in their garden and fields.

Holbrook Animal Rescue will need to relocate in the next few years to make way for a major new housing development. Build has already commenced for the 2,700-home development to the north of Horsham, West Sussex, and the search for a new location is underway. 

One of only two ‘kennel-free’ animal rescues in the UK, however the charity does not own the land on which the rescue is built. Land in West Sussex is notoriously expensive, and in order to continue their essential rehoming work, they are calling upon the community in and around Horsham to help raise the funds to build a new rescue centre.
