Genesis Research Trust raises money to finance vital medical research into the causes and cures for conditions affecting women and babies. These include cancer, miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth and brain damage.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I will be climbing Ben Nevis, the highest mountain peak in the UK, in June 2013 to raise money for Genesis Research Trust. I will be facing this challenge with my good friend Rachael and her colleagues from the Women’s Health Research Centre (WHRC) whom, supported by the Genesis Research Trust, works to identify the causes and cures for conditions that affect the health of women and babies.

The Genesis Research Trust raises funds for scientists and clinicians who are researching the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a range of devastating conditions which cause genetic diseases, miscarriage, premature birth, brain damage and cancer. You can find out more about Genesis Research Trust at: http://www.genesisresearchtrust.com/home

On a personal note, my interests in women’s experiences of pregnancy, childbirth, motherhood have developed since the birth of my own children. Traumatic births can impact greatly on the mental health of mothers and the relationships they have with their children and those around them. Furthermore, this potentially has huge consequences for  a child’s cognitive and emotional development. If the Genesis Trust is able to prevent some of these traumatic experiences, the implications for the wellbeing of mothers and children are considerable. Therefore, I am really excited to be raising funds for this worthwhile cause and would ask that you please give generously in helping to support Women's Health.
