Story
This year I am raising money for Sport Relief by doing a 100 mile paddle down the Thames - though given levels of competence and fitness during the limited "training" sessions, 'drifting 100 miles down the Thames' might be a more accurate description!
The idea is similar to David Walliams' swimming challenge in that we will be starting at 6am in Lechlade on Sat 24th March and trying to successfully navigate the locks, disease and ferocious swans that all call the Thames home. However, unlike Mr Walliams, we are you to have offers to give us an hourly massage, I can't swim so we are doing it in Kayaks, and we were unable to resist the temptation to finish in Windsor so that we could enjoy a few drinks with our colleagues - I do work in the Windsor region after all!*
If we crank up a heady speed of 4.5mph in our kayaks, navigate all 34 locks successfully , and our able to put up our tents at the end of each day, we will arrive in Windsor 3 days later so come and join us for a drink at 6pm on Monday 27th. Rumour has it there might be a Jaeger Bomb waiting for every mile we covered....
