We’re Breast Cancer Now, the charity that’s steered by world-class research and powered by life-changing care. We’re here for anyone affected by breast cancer, the whole way through, providing support for today and hope for the future. By 2050, we believe everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live – and be supported to live well. But we need to act now.

Story

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!!!!

HAVE DONE IT!!!!!!!  Completed my trek today - at times it was extremely tough but an amazing experience - will post pictures when am able!

Thank you all for your incredible support.

Having reached my fourth target, I have raised it again so am now aiming for at least £7,000.  Once again - thank you all for your astounding generosity - your support means a huge amount to me - and makes me even more determined that I am going to achieve this!

So its not long now until I get to China - the training is all but done and I am as ready as I can be to tackle the hardest physical challenge I have ever undertaken - 5 days of trekking on the Great Wall of China, up and down thousands of steps, steep slopes and crumbling paths - all in temperatures of up to 35C and high humidity.

The reason I am doing this is to raise as much money as I can for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.  They work, through campaigning, research and education to seek to eradicate breast cancer.  The facts are that every year 46,000 women and 300 men contract breast cancer in the UK and 1,000 women die of it evry month.  The work that Breakthrough Breast Cancer does is therefore vital in the fight against breast cancer.

Your money will help fund this work. Here are a few of the ways you’ll be helping women with breast cancer:

£5 buys 100 microscope slides needed to look at cells in great detail under a microscope– enabling scientists to     better understand breast cancer and develop new treatments.

  • £10 buys storage containers for the blood samples used in the ‘Breakthrough Generations Study’ so that they can be kept safely for 40 years or more. These samples will help scientists discover the causes of breast cancer.
  • £125 buys a pipette for measuring liquid ingredients, meaning scientists can conduct each experiment into breast cancer and its treatment with great precision.

I am therefore asking you to dig as deep as you can for this great cause.
